• What is A4DD and how can it help me?

  We’re a non-profit organization that will help you reduce your costs and make your delivery business more profitable by providing resources to help you succeed, access to affordable insurance solutions, compliance training, work opportunities, discounts on equipment, fuel, business services you need, and more.

• How much does A4DD membership cost?

  We offer FREE membership with access to many benefits.  Some of our most popular insurance and training benefits are reserved for paid members, but the good news is our most popular annual membership costs just $69.00 (that’s barely $1.00 per week!). There’s also a less expensive six-month option for $44.00. And if you have a Coupon Code, you may pay even less. You may recover the cost of membership quickly through savings on expenses and work opportunities.

• What benefits do I get with my membership?

• Do I need a company coupon code to join?

  No, you don’t need a company code to join. However, using a delivery company’s code will unlock savings on membership and benefits.  If you don’t have a coupon code, ask your contracting company, and if they don’t have one, ask them to contact us to get one.

   

Insurance questions

• What if I earn less than $275 most weeks but work for multiple companies?

  If you want coverage while working for multiple companies, your Member Profile must say “Full-Time Driver” – even with “part-time” earnings. The cost difference is only a few dollars per week. Carriers may adjust your commission to cover this difference. Change your status from the My Account menu.

• What if I have other drivers or a helper?

  You can cover a non-driving helper for injury under your Occupational Accident insurance. If you have employee drivers then you should seek professional advice on what benefits you are obligated to provide to them and how to obtain them since A4DD does not provide employee benefits. If the other drivers are independent subcontractors, they must join the Association for themselves to receive benefits. You can point them our way and we will help these drivers qualify to do work with you, just as we help you qualify for work with larger contracting companies.

• What are the differences between Full-Time and Part-Time coverage?

  Full-time coverage protects you while working for any delivery company, while Part-Time coverage (for those earning under $275/week) only covers work for one designated primary carrier. Full-time costs slightly more but provides broader protection. You choose this when signing up for insurance and you can change it anytime from the My Account menu.

• Why do I need occupational accident insurance if I already have health insurance?

  Health insurance only covers medical expenses. Occupational accident insurance provides three types of coverage that health insurance doesn’t:

  • Medical expenses for work-related injuries
  • Lost income replacement (like disability insurance)
  • Death benefits (like life insurance) If you can show proof of all three types of coverage in amounts similar to what OccAcc provides, some companies may accept that instead of requiring OccAcc.

• I'm a sole proprietor in Florida. Why do I need OccAcc if state law doesn't require it?

  Florida doesn’t require sole proprietors to carry workers’ compensation. However, when delivery companies hire you as a subcontractor, they become legally responsible for workers’ compensation claims from uninsured subcontractors. Companies require OccAcc to protect themselves from this liability – it’s their business requirement, not a state law requirement.

• What are the specific limitations of coverage for part time part-time drivers?

  Part-time coverage has important restrictions:

  • Only covers work for your one designated “primary” carrier
  • Lost income benefits are capped at $193/week (designed for drivers earning under $275/week)
  • Your certificate will clearly identify you as “Part-Time” driver
  • If you work for multiple companies or earn more than $275/week, you should switch to full-time coverage

• Why is my insurnace quote different from what other drivers pay?

  Rates vary based on multiple factors:

  • Your status (part-time vs full-time)
  • Which plan you choose (Plan A, B, or C)
  • Your payment schedule (weekly vs monthly)
  • Special group rates your company may have negotiated
  • Your company’s claims history and group size.

• How can A4DD help me find delivery work?

  We can connect you with qualified delivery companies looking for independent contractors. A4DD members gain multiple ways to get more work. Join a load board for delivery, not trucking. Browse posted opportunities for your area. Get help finding the best companies to approach based on the work you want to do. And use your FREE ad to get found by companies in our network.

   

• What online training do you provide?

  We offer:

• How long does each training course take?

  Most courses can be completed in under an hour.  Some are just 20-30 minutes. They’re self-paced and can be paused/resumed as needed. Certification tests are included.

   

• How do I access the discounts on fuel, gear, vehicle rentals, and other services?

  Once you’re a member, you’ll get access to all our discount benefits. Check them out at the member discounts center. Each discount page includes simple instructions on how to access that discount, for example presenting a special coupon code at purchase or using a members-only online portal.

Account management

• What payment options does A4DD accept?

  We accept credit and debit cards (MC, VISA, Amex) and electronic funds transfer (ACH) from checking accounts. Many benefits offer flexible payment plans (weekly and monthly,). Training can be purchased per course or in discounted bundles.

• What if my payment information changes or expires?

  Update your payment information through My Account. Do this before there’s a problem to avoid a fee and benefit cancellation notices. We do our best to remind members when cards are about to expire.

• What if my insurance or membership cancels due to a payment problem?

  To reactivate, update your payment information through My Account and check the boxes for services to reactivate. A $25 reactivation fee applies.

  A4DD is a non-profit that helps not only delivery drivers but also the companies that utilize them. We provide tools to recruit and retain qualified drivers, maintain compliance, and reduce misclassification risks — all while helping drivers operate as legitimate independent businesses.

• Why should I register my business with A4DD?

  You’ll be able to easily track driver credentials and compliance by sharing a coupon code that reduces their initial cost of membership to $4.00 and provides additional savings on benefits like insurance and training. You also get access to recruiting and onboarding tools, insurance solutions, employee training, professional advisors, and resources like sample driver contract language.

• Is there a cost for my company to work with A4DD?

   There’s a $99 registration fee. You’ll get a unique company code that your drivers can use to access benefits and discounts, helping you to increase your retention. You will also get compliance reports for all drivers using your company code. 

• How do I get started partnering with A4DD?

  Getting started is simple. Register your company online to receive your unique company code and custom driver flyers. Share these with your drivers so they can join and enjoy extra discounts. We’ll then set you up with the services, resources, notifications, and reports you need.

• How do I access compliance reports?

  After registration, you’ll receive login credentials for our website. Here is the page where you can download the report. 

Driver-related questions

• How does A4DD help me find qualified drivers?

  We have a network of pre-qualified independent drivers that you can access whenever you want. Also, you can advertise your openings on our website, and drivers looking for work can contact you directly. 

• What happens when my drivers join A4DD?

  Drivers who join using your company code pay less for their initial standard membership and get access to discounted insurance, MVRs, training, and business services. You’ll receive notifications about their insurance status, training completions, non-payment notices, compliance training renewal, etc. Drivers will be paying less for the gear and services they need, raising morale and improving service levels while you save time and effort managing them.

• Can I require my drivers to join A4DD?

  No, requiring A4DD membership could risk misclassification. Instead, we recommend sharing your company code and explaining the benefits drivers receive, like discounted insurance and services. Most drivers join when they see the savings for their business.

• How do you help with driver onboarding?

  We have a structured onboarding process that lets drivers know your contract requirements and preferences right after they become members of the association.

• Can I require my drivers to join?

  While we don’t restrict you, doing any of these raises worker misclassification risks. It’s much better to let independent drivers handle things themselves and A4DD makes this practical. Your coupon code minimizes up-front costs, and drivers naturally gravitate to us as they realize how easy and affordable it is to take advantage of our benefits. We can also share the approaches that have worked for other companies like yours over the years.

• How much does it cost for drivers?

  Drivers using your company code start with a trial Standard membership of $4 for the first four weeks.

  
Drivers can choose from different membership options to best suit their needs:

  • Free: Access to basic benefits at no cost
  • Standard: $69/year or $44/6 months
  • Plus: $125/year or $79/6 months

  Each tier provides increasing access to different benefits, tools, and resources.

Insurance & compliance

• How does A4DD help reduce misclassification risks?

  We help drivers operate as true independent businesses by providing access to their own commercial insurance, compliance training, and services they need. This creates clear contractor relationships and reduces the need for your company to provide resources.

• What insurance coverage do drivers get through A4DD?

  Drivers can access occupational accident, cargo, general liability, and business auto insurance at group rates.

• How do I track if my drivers have active insurance?

  Our real-time compliance report shows you which drivers have active insurance coverage. You’ll also receive automatic notifications if a driver’s insurance lapses, gets canceled or needs renewal.

• What happens if there's an insurance claim?

  Our insurance partners handle claims directly with the drivers. You’ll be notified of claims that might affect your operations, but the process remains between the driver and the insurance provider.

• Why do I need to require Occupational Accident insurance from my independent contractors?

  When you hire independent contractors, you become legally liable for workers’ compensation claims from uninsured subcontractors. Requiring OccAcc protects your business from this liability. Without it, you’d need to purchase expensive workers’ compensation coverage for all contractors through the assigned risk pool, or risk significant financial exposure from workplace injury claims.

• What's my liability if contractors don't have proper insurance coverage?

  You’re responsible for workers’ compensation premiums for “uninsured” subcontractors. Your workers’ compensation insurer can be forced to respond to claims by these contractors when they’re injured. This could result in:

  • High workers’ compensation premiums
  • Claims against your policy
  • Potential cancellation of your workers’ compensation coverage
  • Legal liability for injuries

• How do special group rates work for my company?

  Companies with larger driver groups (typically 50+ drivers) and superior claims history may qualify for the lowest tier of rates. These special rates:

  • Are negotiated based on group size and claims experience
  • Automatically apply to all insurance products when drivers use your company code
  • May be offered as a favor for smaller groups in certain circumstances

• Can a driver sign a waiver instead of getting Occupational Accident insurance?

  No, waivers are not an acceptable substitute for OccAcc coverage. While drivers may offer to sign waivers, they don’t actually protect your business from future workers’ compensation claims.

• Why don't liability waivers protect my company from workers' compensation claims?

  Waivers have several critical limitations:

  • They only address how parties view the relationship at the time of signing
  • Injured drivers often argue they were forced to sign as a condition of work
  • Drivers can claim circumstances changed or their understanding evolved
  • They may argue you exercised enough control to qualify them for workers’ compensation
  • State laws favor protecting uninsured and injured workers, making the legal bar low for workers’ compensation claims

• What should I do if drivers refuse to get Occupational Accident insurance?

  Drivers who refuse OccAcc coverage create significant liability risks for your business. Explain that:

  • This is a business requirement to maintain your workers’ compensation insurance
  • It’s necessary for legal compliance and contract requirements
  • The cost is reasonable compared to the protection it provides. If they continue to refuse, you may need to consider whether you can afford the liability risk of working with uninsured contractors.

• Can I use A4DD if I operate in multiple states?

  Yes, A4DD works nationwide. Our insurance programs are designed to work across state lines, and we help drivers meet various state requirements.

• What happens if a driver's insurance lapses?

  You’ll receive an immediate notification if any driver’s insurance lapses or is canceled. This allows you to take prompt action to maintain compliance.

• How does A4DD help with driver retention?

  Your company code will help drivers reduce costs on insurance, training, and business services they need, which allows them to have a more profitable and sustainable business. This typically leads to longer retention and more satisfied drivers.

• Do you provide any dispatch, order management, or driver settlement tools?

  We partner with companies that will provide discounted rates on all those tools. Check out our member benefits center for more info. 

• Should I register if I use a Third-Party Administrator (TPA)?

  Most TPAs will allow drivers to choose outside insurance, training, and other services, and will adjust their fees accordingly. We help companies that use TPAs to enhance drivers’ independence by providing real choice for insurance and other requirements. We can also help companies explore cost-effective alternatives to a TPA.

• How can I verify that my contractors maintain continuous coverage?

  Through A4DD’s notification system, you’ll receive:

  • Immediate alerts if any contractor’s insurance lapses
  • Notifications of payment failures
  • Updates when coverage is restored
  • Regular compliance reports showing real-time status.
